WHY YOU MAY NEED A NUTRITIONIST OR A DIETITIAN

Food is essential for everyone in life without it we can’t survive. And all foods are made up of chemical compounds in which what and how we take it goes a long way in affecting us especially our health. The side of the world where I’m from, a lot of people do not really understand the concept of a nutritionist or a dietitian and therefore, don’t see the need for them. Well here are a few reasons why you should keep them handy.

THEY ARE FOOD EXPERT: I would actually call them food doctors’ yes. A nutritionist or a dietitian is someone who has passed through some level of training on how food and its nutrients can affect the overall health of an individual. They give professional advice on the right food to eat and how knowing the right nutrition and nutritional values can be of help to individuals.
Remember that saying of how self-medication of drugs is bad? Well, it also applies to food. Looking at it practically, when you have an issue and you have done all your personal research through whatever means to get the solution to the problem it cannot be as correct as going through an expert in that field to put you through in solving the problem. Therefore, meeting a nutritionist/ dietitian is the right way of solving food-related issues accurately.

CUSTOM-MADE NUTRITION: No two individual is born the same. Even identical twins have their differences, that’s why everyone is unique in their own way. Nutrition is personal, what works for you might not work for me. A nutritionist/dietitian can help to make customized meal plans that would suit an individual nutrition goal. That is, whether it’s to cure a disease, prevent diseases or just for maintenance of the body. Understanding one’s body is one of the problems most people face in society. That’s why a lot of people get ill easily or have broken down either physically, mentally or emotionally and even gain or lose weight. What people do not know is that the nutrition life of an individual plays a huge role in solving these problems. Meeting a Nutritionist/Dietitian is, therefore, a smart way of preventing these problems.

MOTIVATION AND SUPPORT: Two heads are better than one they say. So no matter how smart, how strong or how independent we think we are, there are some situations we find ourselves where we need help or support for certain things and for certain reasons. Following a nutrition plan can be really difficult and exhausting a times especially when we are not getting our desired results or the results are not fast enough. But having someone who can be patient and who understands what you are going through during the downtimes of the nutrition journey to support and encourage you would help to get desired results and prevent quitting.

THE LONG TERM BENEFITS: Nutrition is a lifestyle, and good health is one of the things everyone strives for in life. I can say that good health is one of the essentials in life because without it we can’t function well as humans. Meeting a nutritionist/dietitian concerning your nutrition goes a long way in influencing your health status.
There is a saying “tiny droplets of water make a mighty ocean”. Whatever you are doing or not doing now concerning your life makes a great impact on what would happen to you in the future. Your health is as important as your life because good health is life. The little things you do or do not do now concerning your health goes a long way in affecting it in the future. Good nutrition is a major requirement to attain good health. Therefore, meeting a nutritionist/dietitian would help you through your journey of good nutrition to good health.

One thing for sure is that you might not need a dietitian/nutritionist for all the reasons at once but when you see one be smart enough to get an address or a means of contact because their need might come in very handy. You've opened my eyes to how important a dietician/nutritionist is, especially in a time and age like this. Highly informative, well done.
I could use one! But I feel the issues we face here in Nigeria when it comes to having a diet plan made for us is that come people don’t even have the luxury of choosing their food. What they see is what they eat. What is your take on that

Thank you. I'm really glad you were able to learn from it😊

Well, you don't have to break the bank to eat healthy you have to make use of what you have in your local environment. And the issue is not with that but with how we can use the available food to give our bodies the right nutrients and I would be treating some of that in subsequent posts
